Triathlon: Pura Light Start and Kieran Perkins join Ironman Western Australia

Pura Light Start have confirmed their involvement in the inaugural Ironman Western Australia to be held in Busselton, WA on November 28, 2005 by becoming the event’s new swim leg sponsor. A natural fit for athletes who expect and demand the best in nutritional products, the low-fat milk will be available all week at the Ironman Village set up at Barnard Park and for spectators on race day.

Along with Pura Light Start’s sponsorship, IMG, licence holders of the Ironman brand, are proud to announce swimming legend and spokesperson for Pura Light Start, Kieran Perkins will be in Busselton as an Ambassador for the inaugural event. Perkins, who won two Olympic gold medals over the 1500-metre endurance event, will attend the official welcome dinner on Friday evening, November 26, and be apart of the swim-leg commentary team on race day adding his knowledge and expertise.

The location of the seaside resort of Busselton, WA offers an ideal setting for an Ironman race with the 3.8-kilometre swim taking place next to the famous 2-kilometre Busselton Jetty. The 180-kilometre bike leg will make its way through the Ludlow Tuart Forest National Park, while the marathon run takes place along the picturesque shores of Geographe Bay. With over 600 competitors already signed up to take the challenge, the event is proving to be a popular choice for Ironman athletes from around Australia. And with 40 percent of the entrants coming from overseas, the word is spreading fast about the newest Ironman race, which has 25 qualifying spots for the Ironman Triathlon World Championship held in Kona, Hawaii.

Entry is still available online via www.ironmanwa.com until September 30, 2004.
