o Running continues the retrospective with the NYRR 8000, featuring America’s top male runner, Meb Keflezighi in this USATF National Championship. o For almost three decades one of the top races in the metro area, the Volvo Midland Run is a “springtime family fun festival” with a full day of sports for all ages. o Last year the Oympians were front in the Circle of Friends New York Mini 10K, with special guest Joan Benoit Samuelson. o Among the celebrated events of the year…the Hope & Possibilities Five Mile Run, staged by the Achilles Track Club, with disabled vets from the Iraq war showcasing their courage. o The Liberty Waterfront Run in Jersey City features a challenging half marathon course with a spectacular view of the Statue of Liberty. o And again, year after year, the top event on Long Island is the Great Cow Harbor 10k in Northport, with lots of speed and plenty of personal records. o Continuing our look back, certainly the most exciting women’s competition in the 35 years of the ING New York City Marathon was played out in the extraordinary and dramatic race for the laurel wreath. On the men’s side, Americans are finallly making their way to the front, led by Olympic medalist Meb Keflezighi, who pushed the pace in New York right up to the finish line.
