Posted: July 26, 2005 Triathlon: A Sunday Sweep for Tri-Dubai BOULDER, CO. JULY 25, 2005. For the second weekend this season, super team Tri-Dubai ruled the podium in the tri-sweep across the USA benefiting charities along the way. While Australian Chris Legh was smoking the field by 10 minutes at the Spirit of Racine triathlon in Wisconsin, Simon Lessing and Tim DeBoom went one-two at the Boulder Peak, all while Heather Fuhr held a strong lead in claiming her fifth Ironman Lake Placid championship. While the temperatures were hot at all three venues, the end of the day brought team Tri-Dubai their 12th 1st place podium in 2005, including the 5th Ironman Championship (Brown & Lawn in New Zealand, Major in Arizona, Stadler in Germany, and Fuhr, Lake Placid). The weekend proved to be not only successful for the Tri-Dubai athletes but also for their adopted charity partners -- Lake Placid Child Care Committee and the “I Have a Dream Foundation Boulder. The team’s Charity Partner Program assists needy organizations by selecting nonprofits whom are based in close proximity to major triathlons around the world and rewarding them with donations based on a podium finishes by Tri-Dubai athletes. “With Simon and Heather’s stellar performances this weekend, the team gave over $10,000 (USD) to our charity partners in New York and Colorado.” confirmed Tony DeBoom, Director, Sportiff for Tri-Dubai. “We’re all really happy with the victories this weekend – our athletes really worked hard to deliver, especially in the extreme hot weather. We’re especially happy that our charity partners were here to see our team win, which means they win too.” This coming weekend (July 31) Tri-Dubai team member Peter Reid and Tim DeBoom will compete in the Mano a Mano Showdown at Vineman -- the new series of made-for television one-on-one triathlons www.manoamanotriathlon.com .
