Posted: November 21, 2005 Athletics: Khannouchi & Limo Headline Wincanton Montferland Run From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com By Win van Hemert Former marathon world record holder, Khalid Khannouchi of the United States, and newly crowned LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon champion, Felix Limo of Kenya, will start in the Wincaton Montferland 15-K in 's Heerenberg on Sunday, Dec. 4. For Khannouchi it will be his first ever start in The Netherlands, and his first race since he dropped out of the LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle 8-K last April with injury. Limo is the world record holder at 15 km with a time of 41:29 (41:28.8) which he clocked on Nov. 11, 2001 in the Zevenheuvelenloop at Nijmegen, about 30 miles from 's Heerenberg in the east of the Netherlands. Limo won the Wincaton Montferland run in 1999. Former winners of the race beside Limo are Ethiopians Tesfaye Tola and Kenenisa Bekele (twice), William Kipsang of Kenya and Richard Yatich, the former Kenyan who now represents Qatar as Mubarak Hassan Shami. Other entrants in this year's edition are Kenyan Bernard Kipyego and Dutchmen Hugo van den Broek and Jeroen van Damme. The course of the race is slighly hilly and extends from Heerenberg through the villages of Stokkum, Beek and Zeddam back to Heerenberg. Comment on this story. |
