Posted: December 15, 2005 Athletics: Athletics Kenya Bans Managers From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com In what has become an annual rite, Athletics Kenya has announced that certain athlete managers will no longer be recognized by their federation. That's not news. However, today's announcement by A.K. chairman Isaiah Kiplagat, names some of the world's top managers as being banned, including Dutchman Jos Hermens and American Tom Ratcliffe, who manage some of the Kenya's best athletes, including Susan Chepkemei, Felix Limo, Evans Rutto and Gilbert Okari. Other banned managers include Jean Conrath, Danielle Poli, Hussein Makke, Peter Hier and Enrico Dionisi, according to an e-mail sent to RRW by a correspondent in Nairobi. "There have been complaints by our coaches that managers interfere with athletes during international competitions contrary to our coaches' instructions, thus resulting in poor performance," Kiplagat told the news agency, Reuters.
