Posted: December 17, 2005 Athletics: Honolulu Marathon In Iraq Set For Sunday From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com The first "Honolulu Marathon in Iraq" will be held on Sunday, the Honolulu Marathon Association announced today. The race, which is directed by Marine Lt. Col. James O'Donnell whose unit is based in Hawaii, is the Honolulu Marathon's second satellite marathon in a war zone. It was originally scheduled for last Sunday but had to be postponed because of the elections. The event will be held at Camp Victory near the Bagdad International Airport. The course is comprised of a 10 km loop done four times, with the additional 2.195 km distance made up by an additional section. Burns Computer Services of Michigan has provided ChampionChip timing equipment for the event, while the Honolulu Marathon Association has provided finisher shirts, shell leis, medals and finisher certificates, all the same as was given out at the Honolulu Marathon last Sunday.
