Coloradans Craig Greenslit and Wendy Mader excelled at the inaugural “Best of the US” Championship in 2005. Greeslit placed 2nd in the men’s race; Mader finished 6th in the women’s contest. Collectively, they placed 2nd in the “Fastest State” competition. The Prospect Lake Triathlon, slated for June 25, replaces Loveland Lake to Lake Triathlon, which hosted the 2005 Colorado State Qualifier. “We are so happy that the Prospect Lake Triathlon is part of this year’s program,” says Jerry MacNeil, “We love the event’s location and are anxious to work with an old friend, Lisa Rainsberger, and her fellow director Sonya Norris.” Rainsberger’s career resume is stellar, highlighted by world-class credentials as a distance runner (former Boston and Chicago Marathon winner), pro triathlete, coach and race director. Norris is the director of the US Paralympic Team. The first annual Prospect Lake Triathlon will be staged in beautiful Memorial Park in Colorado Springs. The event consists of 750 meter swim followed by a 13.1 mile bike leg and a 5K run.
