Athletics: LOCO Inks Agreement with Canadian Distributor

LOCO Sports, which launched its new line of performance running shoes at the 2004 Boston Marathon, has entered into a distribution agreement with well-know Canadian runner, Bill Williams. Ottawa-based Williams, has been a member of the Ottawa running scene since 1970. Williams is now principal at LOCO Sports Canada. LOCO CEO Mike St. Laurent explained the arrangement as a win-win situation, "Bill approached us, intrigued by the idea of a shoe brand dedicated solely to the sport of running. He was at a point in his work life where he wanted to have some fun.

We had been eyeing the Canadian market but had been consumed by building out our US operations. Bill's passion for running, business acumen and timing were a perfect fit." LOCO distributors are engaged in the same activities as LOCO in the US - building brand awareness, direct marketing at running events and via the web, and signing up retail store partners. In addition to this Canadian distributor, LOCO has similar arrangements in Australia and New Zealand, with agreements pending in Puerto Rico and the UK.

The LOCO Sports website is at: LOCORunning.com.
