Athletics: It’s TIME FOR THE LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle 8K

Registration Opens January 1, 2006

CHICAGO (December 22, 2005) – This coming year marks The 27th Annual LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle, the world’s largest 8K race (4.97 miles). The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle is set to take place on Sunday, April 2, 2006 in Grant Park. Several world-class athletes and 25,000 local participants will compete for bragging rights in this favorite spring running tradition, which kicks the running season into high gear.

In addition to the 8K race, the 5K Fitness Walk will also take place on Sunday, April 2. The 5K Fitness Walk is a non-competitive, un-timed walk beginning and ending in Grant Park.

Registration for The LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle 8K and 5K Fitness Walk begins January 1, 2006. Registration for the 8K Race and the 5K Fitness Walk is $35.

Pre-race weekend registration for all events is available online at shamrockshuffle.com starting January 1, 2006 and will close when the 25,000 registration cap is reached. There will be no weekend or Race Day registration available for the 8K race or 5K walk. The 8K race starts at 9:30 a.m. followed by the 5K walk at 10 a.m. All events start and finish in Grant Park.

Race Packet Pick-Up will take place at the Health & Fitness Expo located at Navy Pier, Festival Hall B, on Friday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to the Health & Fitness Expo is free and open to the public. There is no Race Day Packet Pick-Up for the 8K race or 5K walk.
