Posted: December 27, 2005 Athletics: A Great Running Tradition Continues From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com A great running tradition continued yesterday in Hamilton, Ontario. The Harold Webster Memorial Boxing Day 10-Miler was held for the 85th time, making it #3 amongst Canadian road races for the number of editions continuously held, according to the Association of Road Racing Statisticians. Interestingly, the oldest continuously held road race in Canada, the Around the Bay 30-K, is held in the same city in association with the same club, the Hamilton Harriers. Nicole Stevenson of Toronto won the women's race for a record sixth time in 59:34. It was also her fifth consecutive victory. Mark Vollmer of Guelph won the men's race for the first time in 54:39. The race had 693 finishers (413 men and 280 women), nearly the same as the 695 reported last year. Complete results are available at: chiptimeresults.com. Comment on this story. |
