Multisport: Triathlon Canada signs Sponsorship deal with Orca

Triathlon Canada signed a significant 3-year deal with ORCA International today to be the exclusive uniform and clothing sponsor for Triathlon Canada.

Orca will be the official apparel supplier to the Canadian Elite and Age Group Triathlon teams providing garments for all major games including the Olympic, Pan Am and Commonwealth Games.

Executive Director, Alan Trivett, says Orca is in a league of its own when it comes to creating the world’s fastest triathlon products. “Orca is clearly the world leader in outfitting athletes from around the globe and we at Triathlon Canada are thrilled to have such a great partnership with Orca who sets the standards for ingenuity and leading edge apparel.”

Orca was founded in 1995 at the ITU World Cup race in Auckland by a former triathlete, Scott Unsworth, who had a passion for innovation, creativity and technology. Orca has grown substantially over the years and they now have an office in Caledon, Ontario. “Canadian triathletes are some of the most recognizable names in the sport – so it’s an exciting announcement when we can add Triathlon Canada to our list of sponsored countries, and with our office just outside of Toronto this deal makes perfect sense,” says Orca’s Global Sponsorship Manager, Julian Smith.

Orca takes tremendous pride in its elite athletes and this is represented by the statistics in major events. Orca wetsuits were worn by 66% of the athletes at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. 8 national teams wore Orca race apparel at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. 50% of all triathletes wore Orca apparel at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

Unsworth says his company will be committed to creating unique designs and the fastest possible triathlon products for Orca Canada. “We will be working hard with Triathlon Canada to develop world leading performance apparel for elite athletes in the build up to the Beijing Olympic Games.”

Triathlon Canada is the National Federation for the sport of Triathlon and Duathlon in Canada.
