Posted: December 31, 2005 Athletics: Dinkesa & Ochichi Win At Bolzano From David Monti © 2005 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com Abebe Dinkesa and Isabella Ochichi were victorious at today's 31st Corsa Internazionale di San Silvestro "Boclassic" in Bolzano, Italy, one of Italy's most prestigious road races. Dinkesa, 21, won the men's 10-K invitational by a wide margin, according to a text message received from RRW assistant editor, Bob Ramsak, who is in Bolzano. The 2004 African Championships silver medalist at 10,000m from Ethiopia set back five-time Boclassic champion, Sergey Lebid of Ukraine, who was a distant third. It was the first ever win by an Ethiopian man at this event. Ochichi, 26, got her first win at Bolzano in the women's invitational 5-K, and the first by a Kenyan women since 2001. For the 2004 Olympic silver medalist at 5000m it was her fifth road racing victory of the year. NOTE: Bob will be filing a complete story later today from Bolzano --Ed. Comment on this story. |
