Athletics Canada finalizes team for Pacific World Cup

Athletics Canada announced today ten more athletes to compete in the Pacific World Cup.  The 2^nd Annual Pacific World Cup - a dual international meet taking place in Burnaby on June 8^th - will feature Canadian national team athletes facing off against China’s finest.

Erica Broomfield, Tawa Dortch, Kelsie Hendry, Jared MacLeaod, Emanuel Parris, Scott Russell and Angela Whyte all competed for Canada at the XVIII Commonwealth Games in March.

More recently Martin Grenier from Sherbrooke finished first in the 100m at the World Haylett Invitational in Manhattan, NY in a time of 10.54.  At the same event on May 7^th Grenier was fourth in the 200m clocking in at 21.64. 

Scott Russell from Windsor finished second at the Grand Prix of Brazil in Belem with a throw of 79.55 meters in the javelin on May 21^st. The heave was Russell’s best of this young season.

Athletics Canada is the national sport governing body for the sport of track and field, cross country running, road running and road racing.
