Athletics: Brooks Canada Marathon Project

Mike & Paul Dyon of Brooks Canada are pleased to announce a new sponsorship opportunity for Canadian distance runners interested in the Marathon event.

This new approach to athlete support will be named the “BROOKS CANADA MARATHON PROJECT”. Overall Concept Objective:

  • Develop an organized training and competition plan with sufficient financial support (privately funded) as a possible model for Track & Field in Canada to consider that is Event Focused.
  • The intention of the Project is to assist those men & women with POTENTIAL, SINCERE INTEREST and PASSION to achieve their PERSONAL GOAL of representing CANADA in the MARATHON EVENT at either the OLYMPIC GAMES or WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP within 2-6 years.
  • This commitment will be in the range of $1.5 Million or more over 6 years.

Brooks Canada Marathon Project Management Team:

  • Mike Dyon – RMP Athletic Locker – Project Sponsor
  • Paul Dyon – RMP Athletic Locker - Project Sponsor
  • Scott Hopkins – RMP Athletic Locker – Project Operations Manager
  • Hugh Cameron – Head Coach of Program
  • Dave Reid – Housing & Athlete Race Liaison Coordinator

To be eligible for selection to the BCDP a candidate MUST:

  • Be eligible to represent Canada at any Major International competition.
    • And have a Canadian citizenship.
  • Have attained minimum Performance Standards for consideration.
  • Complete an Interview Assessment.
  • Be prepared for a “change in running program direction”.

Final selection to the Brooks Canada Marathon Project will be based on a candidate agreeing to a number of training and racing requirements.

BENEFITS to a participant being part of this Project:

  • Take advantage of a private sponsors willingness to support a target group within Athletics Canada’s total Program.
  • Take advantage of the group training synergy with a focus to the Marathon event and IMPROVING PERFORMANCE.
  • Train without concern for financial support:
    • Housing
    • Company product
    • Travel expenses
    • Training Camps
    • Transportation – leased vehicle for group
    • Part time work
    • Some other arrangements available
  • Retain any:
    • Athletics Canada carding support
    • Provincial carding support
    • Financial race prizes and appearances fees.
  • In addition, a significant opportunity to add to income through a special Bonus Structure, sponsored by BROOKS CANADA.
