Highlights for December include:

  • The 37th ING New York City Marathon, the premier event of New York Road Runners. Almost 40,000 crossed the finish line in Central Park, and each and every one received the full five-course, five-star treatment. The Marathon festival includes:
  • The Continental Airlines International Friendship Run, where diplomacy and camaraderie lead the pack;
  • The Health & Fitness Expo at the Javits Center where a runner’s Christmas list…and budget can be exhausted before the finish line;
  • The Barilla Marathon Eve Dinner, time to load up so those final miles go by a little easier;
  • And on race day at the staging area in Staten Island, the pre-start routines are as varied as the 100 countries represented in the field;
  • The First Avenue Experience is something you treasure for a lifetime…even though there are more than ten miles to run;
  • And the post-race Family Reunion Area is the center of the universe for hugs and kisses and where that special glow radiates from those who now can call themselves…”marathoners.”
  • Achilles athlete Lance Benson was born without legs but he continues to roll through barriers without missing a step, a Michelob Ultra Great Moment in Racing.
  • The United Kingdom’s leading ten mile race, the Bupa Great South Run, gives thousands a tour of the gateway to the English Channel and Admiral Nelson’s flagship, the H.M.S. Victory.
  • An energetic New York Road Runners event, the Race to Deliver gets thousands to Central Park for a festive and rewarding four miler, with each step helping to raise funds for God’s Love We Deliver.
