ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Anthony’s Triathlon officially closed registration
for individuals after just seven hours, a near record sell-out for one of the premier multi-sport
events in the United States.
A combination of 3,800 individual triathletes and 100 relay teams will compete Sunday,
April 29 in downtown St. Petersburg for a prize purse of more than $50,000.
General registration is closed. However, charity slots are still available and applications
are still being accepted for professionals competing on Sunday and for the Meek & Mighty
Triathlon, a short distance race for youths ages 7-14 and novice adults held Saturday, April 28.
Known for its scenic course along the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront and attracting
high caliber competition from around the world, the 2007 registration drew athletes from 15
countries and 47 states.
Volunteers are needed April 27–29 and will receive a commemorative race T-shirt,
access to the volunteer hospitality tent and an opportunity to interact with world-class athletes.
