U.S. hurdler Allen Johnson will be among the key names to compete at both major indoor competitions in the UK this winter, organizers announced today.

Johnson, whose incredible longevity has placed him firmly among the world's finest hurdlers for more than a decade and a half, is slated to compete at the both the Norwich Union International in Glasgow on January 27 and the Norwich Union British Grand Prix in Birmingham on February 17.

After injury forced a late start to his international season in 2006, Johnson, at 35, capped his season with a victory at the IAAF World Cup in Athens, clocking 12.96, the year's fourth fastest performance and his fastest in nearly a decade.

"I may be fast approaching 36, but there's no way I'm giving up yet," said Johnson, who has collected seven world titles --four outdoors and three indoors-- along with the 1996 Olympic title during his career. "I think my win at the World Cup in September proved there's plenty left in me, and I want to go to those world championships in Osaka in contention for medals."

One of those world indoor titles, in 2003, came on the same Birmingham track he'll return to in February.

Both competitions are shaping up to be among the finest of the 2007 indoor season. last week, organizers announced that American Bernard Lagat, the 2004 world indoor 3000m champion and a two-time Olympic medallist at 1500m, will contest both meetings. Sweden will be well represented in the five-team international match in Glasgow, led by world indoor high jump record holder Kajsa Bergqvist, Olympic and European triple jump champion Christian Olsson, and the European 100m hurdles gold medallist Susanna Kallur.
