Mike Mason Records Personal Best 2.27 meters to win the high jump
Mike Mason established a personal best and U of W Dempsey Indoor
Facility record on Saturday by winning the High Jump with a leap of
2.27 meters (7'5.25").
Mason, a former world junior gold medallist entered the competition at
2.15 meters. The Valley Royal and UBC athlete had little trouble
winning his section as second place went to Morris Frederick,
University of Wash. who was eliminated from the event at the same
height that Mason entered the competition.
Other notable performances at the meet were recorded by Rucky Abdulai
who won the 400 meters in in 54.0h and the long jump with a leap of 6.30
meters. Rebecca Johnston had second place finishes in the 800 meters
(2:05.27) and the mile run (4:39.65). Julia Howard, making her first
start of the season, was third in the 800m with a 2:05.93 clocking.
