Executive director John Conley announced today that the 2007 AT&T Austin Marathon & Half-Marathon scheduled for this Sunday, February 18, can be viewed on the internet with live streaming video. The link is: MyFoxAustin.com.
Coverage begins Sunday morning at 7h00 Central Time (8h00 Eastern Time/14h00 Central European Time) and runs continuously for four hours.
Athletes in the marathon will be competing on a new loop course this year which is certified and suitable for setting national and age-group records (the old course was point-to-point and had a 137m elevation loss). The top male athletes entered are Firmin Kiplagat Kipchoge of Kenya (2:11:33 PB), Vladimir Tsiamchyk of Belarus (2:11:38), Wesley Ngetich of Kenya (2:12:02), Mykola Rudyk of Ukraine (2:12:29), and Mikhail Khobotov of Russia (2:12:38). On the women's side Firaya Sultanova-Zhdanova, 45, of Russia (2:27:05 PB) leads the field with Ilona Baranova of Ukraine (2:36:56) and Moges Zebenaye of Ethiopia (2:36:14) offering the biggest challenges.
A prize money purse of $100,000 will be on the line.
