(St. Paul, MN – 2/28/2007)–– “Best of the US” Management and the
Hawaii Sports Connection invite the talented triathletes of the Aloha
State to race at the 10th annual LAVAMAN / BEST OF THE US HAWAII
QUALIFIER at the Waikoloa Beach Resort on the Big Island’s Kohala
Coast on April 1. This annual classic is billed as “The Best & Most
Scenic Post Race Party in Triathlon!!!”
Two Hawaiian triathletes, Ben Collins and Rachel Ross, earned US
Amateur Triathlete of the Year Honorable Mention status in 2006.
Collins was recognized by USA Triathlon and Triathlete magazine; Ross
by Triathlete. “We sure hope that Collins and Ross will be on the
starting line at Lavaman this year,” says BOUS Media Director Jerry
MacNeil. “We also hope to see the talented likes of Bree Wee, who was
7th at the Best of the US Championship in 2005, Peter Hursty, Wee’s
teammate two years ago and perennial favorite at Lavaman, as well as
Marion Summerer, Tai Blechta, and Susan Burr, just to name a few. If
any male/female combination of these athletes advances to the
Championship at Cypress Gardens, Florida next October, Hawaii will
be a threat to reach the podium in the Fastest State Tem Competition.”
