The Boston Athletic Association, founders and organizers of the Boston Marathon, announced yesterday that you can follow their race on Monday through the following media outlets. All times are Eastern Daylight Time.
In Greater Boston (live): WBZ-TV (Ch. 4): Coverage begins at 8:00 a.m. and runs through 3:00 p.m.
USA National (live): Versus (formerly Outdoor Life Network): 9:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. Available on most cable and satellite systems.
Europe (live): EuroSport. Check your local cable or satellite sytem listing for details.
Other Areas (live): SporTV in Brazil, SuperSport throughout Africa, Sky Mexico, i-cable in Hong Kong, and Latvian TV (for Jelena Prolopcuka, of course).
Worldwide Highlights (recorded): SNTV and Reuters.
In addition, American Forces Radio and Television will bring the race to U.S. troops overseas, covering 190 countries, and there will be live radio coverage on WBZ am 1030. The official race website, www.bostonmarathon.org,, will also have live text-based coverage.
Starting Times: Push rim wheelchair division, 9:25 a.m.; Elite Women, 9:35 a.m. (all-women's race); and Elite Men with the first wave of official entrants begin at 10:00 a.m. More than 23,800 participants are entered. This year's race marks the first time that the world’s most prestigious road race has not begun at Noon ET.
