Triathlon: “Best Of The US” Invites Oklahoma’s Best To Race At The Route 66 Triathlon On June 3

(St. Paul, MN – 4/18/2006)–– “Best of the US” Management and Tri OKC invite the triathletes of the Sooner State to race at the 3rd annual ROUTE 66 TRIATHLON / BEST OF THE US OKLAHOMA QUALIFIER at El Reno, OK near Oklahoma City, OK on Sunday, June 3.

Oklahoma boasts a surprising amount of talented triathletes. Female standouts include Dana Chance (2005 OK BOUS Representative), Julie Curry, Amanda Erwin, Jennifer Johnson, Desiree Nowlin, Martha Royall and Jennifer Tranchina. For the men, there’s Daniel Agnew, Lee Guthrie, Chris Hunt, Carter Johnson, Joel McCutcheon, Scott Ostrem and Greg Rouault and Chuck Sloan. “We’ve been watching Greg Rouault for the past two years and believe he’s a special talent. So are Sloan, the 2006 National Duathlon Champion, and young Dan Agnew, a surprise 6th at the 2006 Best of the US Championship, for that matter. If any of these athetes represent Oklahoma, we believe he’ll be a podium contender at the National Championship next October,” claims Jerry MacNeil, “Best of the US” PR Director. “And Amanda Erwin is a special talent, too. She turned a lot of heads at Nationals and Worlds last year.” Amanda finished 11th overall at Kansas City (Nationals) and 16th at Lausanne, Switzerland (Worlds).

Last year’s female representative, Christina Wolfe, has relocated to Texas. Christina had a super year in 2006, highlighted by her victories at Memphis in May, River Cities and Ozark Valley and her 8th place finish at the Best of the US Championship. BOUS Management sure hopes that she will race at the Texas Qualifier. (Tri-Raider Sprint in Lubbock on June 24.)

The fastest male and female resident amateurs will receive invitations to represent Oklahoma at the “Best of the US National Championship” on October at Cypress Gardens Adventure Park in Winter Haven, FL. Any combination of the abovementioned male and female triathletes will insure a strong presence for Oklahoma at the Championship.
