BostonTrials2008.com to be a comprehensive guide to event
The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has announced the launch of BostonTrials2008.com. The site will feature bios of qualified athletes, details on the new course, a history of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Women's Marathon and an archive of press releases and photographs. Special sections will also be devoted to spectators, athletes and the media.
"This launch marks the beginning of the countdown to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Women's Marathon," said Guy Morse, Executive Director of the Boston Athletic Association. "Over the next 12 months, we envision this website developing into the comprehensive resource for anyone interested in the race."
The Trials will take place on Sunday, April 20, 2008 - the day before the 112th Boston Marathon - and will be used to select the three athletes who will represent the United States in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Marathon.
The Olympic hopefuls will compete on a multi-loop course, starting and finishing in Boston's Back Bay at the famous Boston Marathon finish line. The course will tour of some of Boston's historic landmarks, followed by four loops across the Charles River to Cambridge and along Memorial Drive. The centerpiece of the course will be the Boylston Street homestretch, which the athletes will cover four times, including the finish.
