(April 25, 2007 – Carmel, California) The twenty-third presentation of the Big Sur International Marathon will host a record number of entrants who participate in the various race events that take place on Sunday, April 29. A total of over 12,000 runners will participate in the marathon, relay, 21 mile walk, 10.6 miles walk, the 5k and the School 5K Competition.
"We a proud not only of our world acclaimed marathon, but also of our award winning Youth Fitness Program "Just Run" where 4,200 children have logged over 104,000 miles this school year, commented Wally Kastner, Race Director. Over 2200 kids will take part in our 5K goal race next Sunday. We expect the program to double in size in 2008. I would like to thank everyone who has helped accomplish this remarkable achievement!"
