OTTAWA - Athletics Canada is pleased to announce that two athletes will represent Canada at the 3rd NACAC Combined Events Championships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on May 25th and 26th. The championships take place at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium which has hosted a number of significant international competitions including the 2003 Pan American Junior Championships, the 2005 CAC Age Group Championships and the 2006 NACAC Under-23 Championships.

In order to qualify for the 2007 NACAC Combined Event Championships, athletes required a decathlon score of over 6,500 which was to be achieved between January 1st 2006 and May 1st 2007. Last year’s decathlon champion Ryan Harlan from the USA finished with a score of 7988. Canada’s top finisher was Massimo Bertocchi from Tottenham, ON who finished in fourth place with a score of 7147.
The events on Friday will consist of two sessions, the first session will include the 100-metre dash, long jump and shot put; the second will consist of the 400-metre run and high jump. The Saturday session will begin with the 110-metre hurdles, followed by the discus throw and pole vault with the second session concluding the events with the javelin throw and the 1500-metres.
Athletics Canada is the national sport governing body for the sport of track and field including cross-country running, road running and road racing.
