OTTAWA - The 2007 International Throws Conference will be held at the University of Windsor Saturday September 29th and Sunday September 30th. The conference, organized by the Canadian Athletics Coaching Centre in partnership with Athletics Canada, will feature competitive sport system expert Dr. Ekkart Arbeit, 1972 Olympic Gold medalist Dr. Anatoly Bondarchuk and Kari Ihalainen, head coach of the Finnish javelin program from 1990 to 2005 and widely considered as one of the greatest coaches in history. The conference will be highlighted by a special appearance by Don Babbitt, coach of eight Olympians in throwing events.
The conference will focus on "Legendary Training Systems" bringing together the presenters' expertise in their respective throwing disciplines. The conference features a variety of sessions as well as open discussions with the attending coaches. The presentations and practical sessions will touch on all aspects of athlete development from the beginner up to the elite level athlete.
