Athletics: Pacific Association Youth Athletes Selected For World Team

FOLSOM, Calif. - May 24, 2007 - Pacific Association/USATF youth athlete Jordan Hasay will lead the Team USA national contingent which will compete at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Athletics (track and field) in Ostrava, Czech Republic, July 11-15. USA Track & Field announced that four Pacific Association girls were selected for the team.

The girls are:

Athlete Age Residence Event Club
Jordan Hasay 15 Arroyo Grande, CA 3000m San Luis Distance Club
Ashton Purvis 14 Oakland, CA 100m, 200m East Oakland Youth Development Center
Julian Purvis 16 Oakland, CA 100m Hurdles East Oakland Youth Development Center
Thandi Stewart 15 Union City, CA Relay Unattached

Track & Field News magazine selected Hasay as the third best high school miler, and the second best high school two-miler, in 2006. She is a sophomore at Mission Prep High School in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Earlier this year, Hasay won the 2007 USATF Junior Cross Country Championship race.
