Hi Tri Events, organizer of the Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore, Asia's first ever Ironman 70.3 event, is proud to announce that Aviva, the event title sponsor has created the Aviva Excellence Awards especially for the elite field of the first ever Ironman 70.3 event in Asia.
The initiative is an major link in Aviva's growing support of the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Singapore, set down for September 2nd 2007.
The Aviva Ironman 70.3 launched with $30,000 USD in total prize monies, but the Aviva Excellence Awards will add a further $12,000 SGD to the elite purse, which in turn adds $3000 SGD to the winner's purse, $2000 SGD to second place and $1000 SGD to third place for each of the male and female elite categories!
Aviva's Excellence Award money will see the winning male and female elite athletes now taking home approximately $8,400 USD in total for their respective victories, with second place now worth approximately $,4,820 USD in total, and third place $3,160 USD and on down to $1,000 USD for the fifth place pro athletes.
The total Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore prize money now totals $38,000 USD, or $57,735 SGD, making it the second highest paying Ironman 70.3 in the global qualifying series.
The rise in prize money is an indication of the determination of the Singapore based event to become a major stop over in the Ironman 70.3 World Series, and a strong member event of that series.
It also comes as no surprise to learn organizers are talking with many of the top Ironman and Ironman 70.3 athletes, world wide about a start in the Asian phenomenon, which has already attracted 880 athletes and looks certain to fill before the August deadline!
The Aviva Excellence Awards further sets the Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore as a must do event, and a major event in the growing sports centre of Singapore.
