Highlights for June, 2007 include:
- While the yachts wait in the North Cove Harbor at the tip of lower Manhattan, well over ten thousand landlubbers run up their stocks in the American Heart Association Wall Street Run and Heart Walk, a New York Road Runners event.
- Professional racing enlivens Central Park in New York Road Runners Healthy Kidney 10K presented by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, and the international field takes a lesson from one of America’s best, Dathan Ritzenhein.
- Perhaps the fastest 10k course in the metro area, and maybe the most festive, the Riker Danzig Newport 10,000 in Jersey City takes another step up in the elite running circuit scene.
- Racing to the beat of the island, to Puerto Rico for the 22nd annual Carrera International Abraham Rosa 10K, with it’s “free for all” attitude and major pro elites out front.
- There’s no other way. When the horn sounds you shift into high and don’t let up until the max effort can be savored. It’s the Honolulu Triathlon and the alohas will have to wait until you’re across the finish line.
- A Michelob Ultra Great Moment in Racing. The triathlon pros let it all hang out in wheel-to- wheel racing and it gets bumpy, but the triathlon athletes will get to that finish line.
- Yankee manager Joe Torre’s Safe At Home Foundation is one of the many organizations showcased in New York Junior League’s Races to Erase Domestic Violence, a New York Road Runners event.
