Athletics (RRW): Personal Bests For Rudisha, Webb At Malmö Yesterday

From David Monti © 2007 Race Results Weekly, all rights reserved RaceResultsWeekly.com While most attention was focused on yesterday's Athens Grand Prix at Olympic Stadium, David Rudisha and Alan Webb scored personal bests while tuning up at the lower-key MAI-Galan meeting in Malmö, Sweden. Rudisha, an 18 year-old Kenyan who was the 2006 IAAF World Junior champion at 800m, won the two-lapper in Malmö in 1:45.10, the best time of his career. Webb, the newly crowned USA 1500m champion, stepped down in distance and also ran a career best, finishing second in 1:45.80. Other highlights from Malmö included a 1500m victory by Moroccan Rassioui Badr in 3:38.05; Americans Chris Solinsky and Tom Brooks both dipped under 3:40 for the first time in their careers, finishing fourth and seventh, respectively, in 3:39.26 and 3:39.91.
