INDIANAPOLIS - The IAAF Golden League 2007 continues on Friday with the
Golden Gala in Rome. An audience of 40,000 is expected in Rome's Olympic
stadium.
Fans can watch the Golden League action LIVE from Rome at
www.sportnet.com. Competition begins at 2:30 p.m. ET with the men's
5,000 meters with the last event, the women's 400m hurdles, going off at
4:55 p.m. ET. Other events to be contested include the men's and women's
100m, 400m, 800m, men's 1,500m, women's 5,000m, men's 110m hurdles,
women's 100m hurdles, men's 400m hurdles, men's long jump, women's high
jump, men's triple jump, women's pole vault and men's javelin throw.
U.S. stars expected in Rome
Many of America's finest athletes are expected to compete in the elite
competition, including 2006 IAAF Athlete of the Year Sanya Richards in
the women's 400 meters and American record-holders Jenn Stuczynski in
the women's pole vault, Breaux Greer in the men's javelin and Deena
Kastor and Shalane Flanagan in the women's 5,000m.
Also look for 2005 World champion Bershawn Jackson, 2007 U.S. champion
James Carter and two-time U.S. champion Kerron Clement in the men's 400m
hurdles and American record-holder Dominique Arnold and 1996 Olympic
gold medalist and four-time World champion Allen Johnson in the men's
110m hurdles.
