Athletics: 2007 Park Point 5-Miler Results

(Duluth, Minn.) Duluthian Eric Hartmark won the 36th annual running of the Park Point 5-Miler tonight with a time of 25:17. Defending champion Greg Hexum, 36, also of Duluth, finished second in 25:51, while White Bear Lake, Minn., resident Digger Carlson, 45, placed third in 26:22. The 29-year-old Hartmark earned his first Park Point 5-Miler title. He finished 19th in last month’s Grandma’s Marathon. In the female division, Deb Gormley, 40, of Plymouth, Minn., was victorious with a winning time of 31:19. Duluthian Jody Zelezniker, 34, placed second in 32:55 followed closely by Cloquet’s Janet Rosen, 53. A total of 451 runners and 54 walkers registered to compete in the event ? northern Minnesota’s oldest road race. Youth races for children 14 & under accompanied the events. The overall champions as well as the top male and female finishers in sixteen divisions for the 5-mile run and 2-mile walk receive trophies. All children who participated in the youth races were awarded a ribbon. Complete results will be available at www.grandmasmarathon.com as soon as they are available. Net proceeds from the Park Point 5-Miler benefit the Young Athletes Foundation (YAF), a Grandma’s Marathon program promoting and developing youth athletic programs. The Park Point 5-Miler is presented by Sam’s Club.
