August 1, 2007 (Victoria, BC) Registration for the 2008 New Balance Half Iron in Victoria, BC will open on September 1, 2007 to the general public.

You don’t want to miss out on a chance to race in this exciting Half Iron event taking place in Victoria, BC on June 22, 2008. This event has traditionally sold out in the first week of registration. During the past 11 years since its conception in 1996, the New Balance Half Iron has quickly become one of Canada’s most prominent and well-established triathlon race events. Race participants from all over the world have made the trek to Victoria to compete in this tremendously popular, low-key grassroots event.

At the 2007 New Balance Half Iron, National Long Distance Champion, Jonathan Coran was the 1st overall male with a time 3:50:47 and Heather Wurtele of Victoria, BC was the 1st overall female with a time of 4:15:11. The event attracts a strong international age group field and past winners have included 2000 Ironman Florida winner Jamie Cleveland; 2000 Ironman Lake Placid and 1999 Ironman New Zealand winner Melissa Spooner; and the great Ironman Champion Lori Bowden. The 2005 race was the site for the Canadian Long Course Championships.
