WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (August 6, 2007) -- Nothing quite goes together like waterslides and triathlon. At least that's the opinion of 193 youngsters who took part in USA Triathlon's Youth National Championship at Noah's Ark Water Park in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. on Saturday, August 4.
The participant list was fairly evenly split between genders, with 95 boys and 98 girls, ranging in age from 7 to 15 years old. The athletes hailed from 21 states and were separated into four age groups (7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15), with the two younger groups racing a 100m swim, 5k bike, 1k run course and the older athletes participating in a 200m swim, 10k bike, 2k run.
A total of 36 medalists were competing for the second- straight year, with six national champions from 2006 returning in an attempt to defend their titles. Just one athlete was able to accomplish that feat: Luke Farkas in the boys 13-15 category.

The second-ever Youth Club National Championship trophy went to Chicago-based Multisport Madness Kids, who defended its title from 2006.
