FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. –Team USA’s 4x100-meter relay advanced to the finals at the 2007 IAAF World Championships in Osaka, Japan. Former Hog and Fayetteville native Wallace Spearmon ran the second leg for Team USA.
Rodney Martin, Spearmon, Darvis Patton and Leroy Dixon combined for a time of 38.10 and finished second in heat two behind Jamaica (38.02).
“We ran good and comfortable today”, Dixon said. “We just wanted to get through. We don't want to just burn up the track today, so we will just go and wait for tomorrow. Rodney started us off with a great leg. That's to be expected for the finals. Wallace ran a good leg. Darvis got it to me. It should all be good for tomorrow.”
The finals in the event will be held on Saturday. Razorbacks J-Mee Samuels, Tyson Gay and Wallace Spearmon are included in the 4x100-meter relay pool.
