Highlights for September, 2007 include:

  • While there are hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money in New York Road Runners professional events, the real racing is between metro area runners in the Team Championships.
  • They run along the shore of Martha’s Vineyard Sound in the spectacular Falmouth Road Race on Cape Cod, and for generations this is the race that makes the summer special.
  • Thousands will run the ING New York City Marathon in November, and wearing number 35 will be Mike Richter who led the New York Rangers to the 1994 Stanley Cup Title.
  • Many have qualified, but only three will be on the podium in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Men’s Marathon in Central Park in November. One of the favorites…Abdi Abdirahman.
  • With the swim in the Hudson River behind you, it’s time for 40K ride on the West Side Drive and then a 10K run in Central Park in the Nautica New York City Triathlon.
  • He’s been the top United States finisher in the last two Olympic triathlons, and Hunter Kemper showed his power and poise in 2001 in the first ever New York City Triathlon, a Michelob Ultra Great Moment in Racing.
  • The world’s largest 10K, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, where many simply look for daylight and the pros sort out the $ 100,000 plus prize purse.
  • To Davenport, Iowa where almost 15,000 tour the neighborhood in the Quad City Times Bix 7, now in it’s 33rd year, and the racing is hot as ever.
