OTTAWA - The Memorial Van Damme takes place tomorrow in Brussels, Belgium at the Stade Roi Baudouin holding 50,000 people. The fifth of six meets in the IAAF Golden League, the Memorial Van Damme will field some of the worlds finest track and field athletes.
Canada will be well represented in Brussels with World Championship silver medalist Perdita Felicien. The Pickering, ON native will line up in the 100 metre hurdles along with fellow World Championship finalist Angela Whyte from Edmonton, AB. Carmen Douma-Hussar of Cambridge, ON and Hilary Stellingwerff of Sarnia, ON will both compete in the womens one mile. Hamilton, ON native Reid Coolsaet is scheduled to take part in the mens 10000 metres.
The IAAF Golden League concludes on Sunday September 16 with the ISTAF 2007 in Berlin, Germany. CBC will have coverage of both the Memorial Van Damme and of the ISTAF 2007.
