OTTAWA – The TransCanada Run with the Champions 10K is back in 2007 once again serving as the Timex Road Race series final. TransCanada Run with the Champions also serves as the 10 kilometre road race Canadian championships. This edition will also mark the first ever wheelchair national 10 kilometre road race championship. The event takes place on October 13 with a start at the Canadian War Museum and continuing along the picturesque Ottawa Parkway with Parliament Hill serving as the backdrop.

TransCanada Run with the Champions provides race participants the unique opportunity of competing alongside Canada’s elite as they vie for the Canadian title. 2007 Canadian marathon champions Lioudmila Kortchaguina of Thornhill, ON and Matthew McInnes of Toronto, ON will be looking to add to their mantles. Kortchaguina recently participated in the 2007 IAAF World Championships in Osaka, Japan where Canada came away with two medals.
Awards will be handed out to both the Canadian male and female champions as well as to 11 age category champions.
Prize money will be awarded to the top five overall Canadian male and female finishers and to the wheelchair champions. Each age category division winner will win a Timex watch.
The Timex series is Canada’s only national road race series with races in all provinces encompassing in excess of 140,000 participants per year.
