BOULDER, CO -- Who is the fittest CEO in the world? Thirteen athlete/CEOs from around the globe will converge on Kona, Hawaii on October 13 for the CEO Ironman World Championship, and to see who really is the "Fittest CEO in the World®." The title is granted at the Ford Ironman World Championship since it is viewed as the single toughest one-day endurance event on the planet, and consists of a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, and a 26.2-mile marathon run.
Competing for the title are thirteen CEOs from around the world. Countries represented are Australia, Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, Canada, and the USA. The CEOs qualified via one of six CEO Triathlon and Ironman Challenge events held around the world in 2007.
Ted Kennedy, Owner of CEO Challenges, calls the Hawaii Ironman the Superbowl of triathlons. "The CEOs that qualify for our CEO Ironman World Championship really are the 'best of the best' from around the World," he said. "It's amazing how these individuals can balance running their companies with travel, families, and the training necessary to complete an Ironman. These thirteen CEOs are truly A-type over-achievers that love to set lofty goals for themselves, and then revel in their achievement. They are very aware of the example they are setting for their employees, and their incredible high energy is contagious."
The race for 'Fittest CEO in the World' will be very intense this year. Based on qualifying times, favorites are Scott Binder, CEO of Comcast Colorado, Tony Underwood, who owns a chain of gift and card shops in Australia, and Georg Partlic, owner of an Austrian concrete company.
