Athletics: PETA Beauties Run Louisville Marathon-In Body Paint and Skimpy Yellow Running Gear

Sexy Duo Goes the Distance to Protest KFC

Louisville, Ky. - Wearing nothing but skimpy yellow sports bras, boyshorts, running shoes, and body paint reading, "KFC Tortures Chicks" and "KentuckyFriedCruelty.com," PETA beauties Nicole Matthews and Louisville resident Lindsay Rajt will run the half-marathon leg of the Louisville Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday. Other PETA members will hand out leaflets that graphically describe KFC suppliers' abusive treatment of chickens in factory farms and slaughterhouses.

Date: Sunday, October 21
Time: 8 a.m. (start of race)
Place: Louisville Marathon and Half Marathon, Louisville Water Tower, River Road and Zorn Avenue

Why are PETA's beauties going the distance for chickens? The more than 850 million chickens killed each year for KFC are tortured in ways that would result in cruelty-to-animals charges if other animals were the victims. They are drugged and bred to grow so large that many become crippled from the weight of their massive upper bodies. Many have their throats slit while they are still conscious and are scalded to death in defeathering tanks. KFC has ignored the recommendations of members of its own animal welfare advisory panel for years.

"KFC stands for cruelty in our book," says runner-with-a-cause Lindsay. "The discomfort from running 13 miles is nothing compared to the torture endured by the millions of birds who are raised and killed for KFC."
