New website replaces the MCM Results CD
QUANTICO, Va. - (October 16, 2007) - The Marine Corps Marathon is leading the industry with a new service for runners to view their post-race results. Replacing the Post-Race Results CD will be individualized, customized finisher websites for each of the more than 21,000 anticipated finishers. Designed and hosted by MarathonFoto, the site will offer runners access to their split times, finish results and photos, plus interactive features like RunPix, Map Track, Finisher Certificates, eGreetings and more, scrapbooked together in one easy-to-use location.
"The MCM has always been on the cutting edge of race technology from being among the first races to use timing chips to utilizing a wireless network," said Rick Nealis, Marine Corps Marathon Race Director. "I am proud to offer this new innovation to our finishers that will make viewing and sharing race results and information more dynamic than ever before."
This first-of-its-kind website takes finishers on a journey through their Marine Corps Marathon adventure, offering all the great features of the MCM Results CD in an online format. Finishers will enjoy personalized webpages with their finish times, photos and other personalized results data to share with friends and family, simply by sending a link. Runners will be invited to click through the marathon's history including previous winners, course records and celebrity marathoners. The site will also provide a multimedia showcase of "The People's Marathon" including a slide show from the Marathon and Healthy Kids Fun Run, and results database, searchable by first or last name or bib number.
The interactive results website, including the downloadable finisher certificate, will begin to unfold on marathon day. Visit www.MarineMarathon.com for more information.
Voted "Best Marathon for Families", the Marine Corps Marathon continues a combined tradition of dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism. Runners from all walks of life have participated in the world's largest marathon to not offer prize money, deservingly earning the nickname "The People's Marathon." The 32nd Marine Corps Marathon to be held on October 28, 2007 in Arlington, VA is presented by USAA, Brooks Sports, Inc. and CVS/Caremark.
