Triathlon: Versus To Air 2007 Ford Ironman Louisville On Sunday, November 18

Tarpon Springs, FL (November 15, 2007) - Versus (VS.) will air the broadcast of the inaugural Ford Ironman Louisville this Sunday, November 18, at 4:00 p.m. EST.

The broadcast was taped on location in Louisville, KY, on August 26, as more than 1,800 athletes completed the inaugural event and leads viewers along a 140.6 mile journey in the Ohio River and throughout various areas of Louisville. Watch as athletes complete a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run in succession, within the 17-hour timeframe, and celebrate their finishes at Fourth Street Live!, located in the heart of downtown Louisville.

Included in the broadcast are 2007 Ford Ironman Louisville Champions, Chris McDonald and Heather Gollnick. See McDonald take the lead at mile 18 of the run, passing a highly competitive field that consisted of professional athletes such as TJ Tollakson, Craig McKenzie and Alex Taubert. Watch as Gollnick claims her fifth Ironman title and a personal best, competing against Ironman Champion, Nina Kraft. Additionally, several inspirational athletes are profiled to include:

  • Andy Baldwin - An accomplished age group athlete and former reality star from the hit show, The Bachelor, Baldwin boasts nearly 10 Ironman finishes, five Ironman 70.3 finishes and three USA Triathlon All-American titles under his belt. Baldwin participated as a representative of the US Navy, finishing with a time of 10:02:15.
  • Daniela Nichols - Nichols is a two-time cancer survivor and single mother. A multiple Ironman finisher, Nichols participated in the inaugural Ford Ironman Louisville proving that "ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.(tm)"
  • Mike Demko - Demko completed the 140.6 miles wearing bib number 179 in memory of Ford Ironman World Championship finisher, Jon Blais, who passed away from ALS last May. A resident of Birmingham, MI, Demko participated to raise money and awareness for finding a cure for ALS.
  • Jeff Schneider - Schneider, from the Greater Louisville Sports Commission, played an integral role in bringing the event to the city of Louisville. Watch as Schneider, also a cancer survivor, finishes his first Ironman.

Viewers will also have a second opportunity to watch the broadcast, as Versus (VS.) will air an encore presentation of the 2007 Ford Ironman Louisville on Wednesday, November 21, at 4:00 p.m. EST.
