Multisport: Moving The Workout Indoors

Cross-training Craze Takes Runners and Endurance Athletes to Their Next Level

TORONTO, Ontario - December 12, 2007 - Christine Felstead is pleased to announce the launch of her new DVD: Christine Felstead’s Yoga for Runners™: the essentials DVD.

“Yoga is the perfect complement to running because it works to restore balance and symmetry to the body,” said Christine Felstead. “There are also tremendous benefits related to strength, lung capacity and mind/body centering. Running is meditation in motion.”

While running, specific muscles in the legs hips and feet are used continuously, leaving them prone to overuse. Muscles, from being in a constant state of contraction, will shorten. Without the opportunity to restore length, muscles will continue to shorten and eventually restrict or limit the range of motion in related or referral joints. Repetitive action promotes misalignment in the body that in turn increases one’s risk to injury.

Christine Felstead is a yoga instructor with a twenty year history of running 10 kms and marathons. She has developed and conducts yoga classes and workshops specifically designed for runners. Most recently she has also created personalized and individual programs for runners, triathletes and professional hockey players.

Copies of Christine Felstead’s Yoga for Runners™: the essentials DVD can be found at select Roots stores or purchased on-line at www.yogaforrunners.ca.
