VANCOUVER, February 12, 2008 - National law firm Davis LLP announces its sponsorship of Lauren Groves, a champion triathlete and member of the Davis family poised to rise to the challenge of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Davis formed this commitment to Lauren in October of 2007, following her successful qualification in September for the 2008 Olympics. Lauren is one of only two athletes that Triathlon Canada has nominated at this point for the Beijing Games. A 2006 Canadian National Triathlon champion and 2007 PanAm Games Bronze medalist, Lauren is also the daughter of senior partner of the firm, Robert Groves.
“It is with great pride that Davis is able to support Lauren’s journey and join with other members of the Canadian business community in helping Canadian athletes to achieve their Olympic goals,” said National Managing Partner Robert Seidel, Q.C. “It is with particular pleasure that we are able to do this for one of our own.” Although currently in training, Lauren returns to Vancouver in June for the 2008 BG Triathlon World Championships prior to her departure for Beijing.
In a recent profile of Lauren featured in the January issue of Triathlon Magazine Canada, her coach describes her greatest attribute as: “Her dedication to the sport, her attention to detail, her willingness to push her limits, to face her fears and dig deeper than she thinks possible.”
With such evident diligence and determination, the firm will keep its eyes open for Lauren to have an eventful summer of 2008.
