By Pete Edwards
Before I ran my first marathon I was cross country skiing and running everyday – double workouts made extra FUN on snow. I was becoming an aerobic animal and didn’t even know it until 10 miles into my first marathon and I dropped all my training buddies. They were shocked and so was I, but I knew it was the cross country skiing that gave me the extra boost.
When I had to give up marathon running Nordic Walking Poles saved the day for me – providing an effective, yet low impact exercise that helped to get me back out on my favorite running routes.
I got so fired up about my poles that I started to incorporate Nordic Walking and Nordic Running into my high school track and cross country teams workouts.
My athletes with shin splints and other issues found that they could successfully hike with the poles – virtually pain free? The poles really do radically reduce the stress to the shins, knees, hips and back!
One of my customers discovered that Nordic Running with our quality poles eliminated the pain from her runner’s knee. Her knee hurt when she tried regular running, but when she ran with her poles the knee pain disappeared. The poles not only help to decrease the stress to the weight bearing joints they also help to improve posture.
Using the correct technique and proper length poles is important.
ALL of our poles come with a FREE Nordic Walking DVD + additional instructions provided by the American Nordic Walking System. All customers receive a perfect length guarantee also.
Perfect length poles help us to automatically walk with a super straight back - better walking posture is biomechanically a good thing. This improved walking posture when combined with the unique 4-Wheel-Drive type action of walking with poles radically reduces the stress to the shins, knees, hips and back. Nordic Walking is low impact and yet provides a highly effective workout - burning more calories and working more muscle groups than regular walking.
I recommend quality one-piece poles that won’t collapse unexpectedly. One-piece poles are safer, lighter and much more durable than cheap twist-locking adjustable/telescoping/collapsible poles. Adjustable/telescoping/collapsible poles should NEVER be recommended for anyone with a balance issue. Hundreds of backpackers have tumbled when their telescoping poles unexpectedly collapsed, causing severe injuries.

I have no doubt that Edwards is the #1 retailer of Nordic Ski Walking Poles in the USA! You can quote me on that!"
