OTTAWA Athletics Canadas IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships team is ready to take on the very best in the world in Valencia, Spain beginning Friday March 7. 159 nations will be represented in Valencia making this the largest World Indoor Championships in history.
Eight athletes will be striving for the podium in Spain with six of them having competed at the 2007 World Outdoor Championships in Osaka, Japan.
How they fared in Osaka

Dylan Armstrong from Kamloops, BC qualified for the final and finished 9th in the mens shot put with a throw of 20.23 metres

Tyler Christopher from Edmonton won his 400 metres heat, finished 3rd in his semi-final and 6th overall in a time of 44.71 seconds

Nicole Forrester of Aurora, ON finished in 14th in the womens high jump with a performance of 1.85 metres

Priscilla Lopes-Schliep from Whitby, ON did not advance from heat 1 crossing the line in 12.94 seconds in the 100 metre hurdles

Hilary Stellingwerff from Guelph, ON qualified for the 1500 metres semi-finals by finishing 5th in her heat but would not advance past the semis crossing the line in 6th place in 4 minutes and 15.99 seconds

Angela Whyte from Edmonton was 2nd in her heat and semi-final and finished 8th overall with a time of 12.66 seconds in the 100 metre hurdles.
