OTTAWA – Athletics Canada is pleased to announce that the St Albert Challenge (St Albert, AB), Combine Select (Saint Laurent, QC), and Keeper Athletics Track and Field Meet (Sioux Lookout, ON) will all host events as part of the International Association of Athletics Federations World Athletics Day 2008. World Athletics Day is an initiative to promote athletics to youth worldwide; over 140 countries participated in 2007. The event has been held in early May across the globe for more than 10 years.
This year’s event includes two age categories; youth athletes (born 1991 and 1992) and the second will be a school based age grouping (born 1993, 1994 and 1995).
As in past years all event winners will be entered into a draw to win a trip to the Herculis Meeting in Monaco, taking place in July. Sabrina Nettey of Surrey, BC was one of 18 world-wide winners last year who were invited to attend the World Championships held in Japan.
