SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Adidas, the world's leading sports brand, has joined Puerto Rico's most important sporting event the World's Best 10K (WB10K) with a multi-year agreement to become the official footwear and apparel sponsor thru 2011. The WB10k is one of the most important road races worldwide, having been recently acknowledged by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) as the only 10 kilometer road race to receive a Gold Label in 2008. The race, held on San Juan, Puerto Rico, brought together a great number of local and international runners such as Paula Radcliffe, Lornah Kiplagat, Deriba Merga, Wilson Kipsang, Dire Tune and Mestawet Tufa, among others.

"Through a strategic sponsorship in this event, we looked to strengthen our commitment to the development of the sports industry in Puerto Rico. We were pleased to provide our support to this magnificent event," said Robert Nemlin, Marketing Director for adidas, Latin America S.A.

Adidas sponsors a number of the world's major marathon and races, including the Boston Marathon, the Berlin Marathon and much more. In addition, adidas sponsors numerous professional runners such as Lornah Kiplagat of Kenya, the women's champion of the WB10K in 2007.

Adidas is best-known for its long-term involvement in different sports worldwide from running, football, basketball to tennis. There exists a long list of prominent athletes sponsored by adidas, such as Lionel Messi, Allyson Felix, Haile Gebrselassie, Tyson Gay, Kaká, Yelena Isinbayeva, Novak Djokovic, Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan.

"Since the establishment of adidas, the brand has been dedicated to sports and all those athletes who are striving to challenge themselves to reach the limits of human potential. Helping athletes to reach their own "impossible" is our commitment that goes far beyond our name. Adidas' high quality products with advanced technologies, including shoes, textiles and anything else, represent exactly that commitment," said Robert Nemlin, Marketing Director of adidas Latin America, S.A. "That's why it is natural that we joined our brand name together with the World's Best 10K and we strengthen our commitment to promote sports in Puerto Rico."

Adidas Latin America S.A., a subsidiary of adidas A.G., sells and markets products under the adidas and TaylorMade brand names in Central America, the Caribbean, Venezuela, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and Colombia. As a worldwide leader in the sports industry, adidas offers a wide range of innovative products with cutting-edge technologies for runners, including adiStar and Supernova shoes that feature the Formotion™ technology and were awarded "Best Update" in 2007 in Runner's World magazine.
