The new Suunto t6c will join Matty Reed in Vancouver, British Columbia for a shot at a world title
Ogden, UT—June 3, 2008--This week Suunto athletes and products will make their way to Vancouver, B.C. for the ITU BG World Championships, which start on June 5th.
As Official Timekeeper, Suunto will record the time of each race and the transition splits for the 1.5km, swim, 40km bike and 10km run legs. Also provided for serious fans will be a GPS tracking service where real-time distances between athletes can be displayed on television monitors.
Beginning with the junior men’s and women’s title races on Thursday June 5th, the Championships wrap up on June 8th with the elite category races.
American Olympic team member and Suunto athlete Matty Reed is billed as a favorite to win. He’s been in top form in recent months. Reed, who trains with a Suunto t6c and Comfortbelt, has had a number of successes this year including two top-ten finishes at ITU World Cup events.
The Suunto t6c now features different running and cycling modes, making it easy for triathletes to switch quickly from function to function and, coupled with the Road Bike and Foot PODs, monitor their speed and distance across the different disciplines.
Athletic performance data is gathered by Suunto’s Comfortbelt which allows calculation of Heart Rate Variation (HRV), now considered to be the best indicator of recovery, possible overtraining and for planning goal-specific training programs.
Suunto Training Manager Software analyses features sports laboratory accuracy by gathering data from seven body parameters including oxygen consumption, calorie consumption, respiration rate and the EPOC-based Suunto Training Effect.
Suunto representatives will be available throughout the Championships to offer advice, tips and answer any questions on their products. Visit www.suunto.com for more details.
