OTTAWA – Eric Gillis of Antigonish, NS and Andrea Grove-McDonough of Winnipeg, MB are the 2008 Canadian 10000m champions. The championships were held last night at the University of Toronto Varsity Centre on John L. Davenport Track.
Defending champion Eric Gillis recaptured the Canadian crown for the 25 lap race with a time of 29:28.1, followed by Dylan Wykes of Kingston, ON who crossed the line in a time of 30:25.18. Nyial Majock won the bronze in 30:39.37.
In the women’s championship race Andrea Grove-McDonough ran a time of 35:19.39 to capture the Canadian title. Emily Tallen of Kingston, ON and Beth Wightman of Unionville, ON finished second and third in 35:23.14 and 36:01.91 respectively.
